Ok, so I've seen several people recommend Castrol Edge TD 5W-40. Oilmansi's website also confirms this.

(Guys, you've all been great! ...I knew it was a good idea to join this club!! )

...Just out of interest, is there any reason why we should be using diesel oil in a petrol car?

Hi all, i've searched through the past threads, but can't find much about oil consumption in already bedded in cars...

I bought my S just under 2 months ago, and have done 2K miles. I've just done my monthly 'checks' (oil, tyres, etc) and noticed that the car has used nearly ALL of it's oil. The car has 42K on the clock, so is well bedded in. Is this one of those times where you call the Dealer and say "oi!", or is all the oil in 2K miles normal? (I hardly ever VTEC either!)

Cheers!
Mine was an MY00 with 48k on when i sold it this weekend, and it used about a litre in the 2.5 years i had it. Only did 9k with 2 services in that period but I think its a case of keeping an eye on it. With the early ones, some use it and others dont use much but better to be safe than sorry

I just gve Opie Oils a call and they recommend Silkolene Pro S 5w40 for the engine so thats what I'm putting in it. I was incredibly impressed with it when I had my EP3 so I'm sticking with what I know.

They are also doing a promotional offer at the moment giving an extra 20% off the engine oil with a code you can put in to the checkout page.

So basically I've had my S2KUK discount plus a further 20%.

All in all I've ordered a 5L and a 1L top up bottle of 5w40 plus some Hypoid 90 diff oil for

I just spoke to my stealer (Letchworth) and they use Castrol SLX 0-30 in the last service.

You can get it here:-

I hope this helps.

The dealer isn't always right

...as I found out today when the idiots gave me 3 different prices for the same service telling me different things needed doing! As you can imagine I wasn't impressed in the slightest! To add to that they then said they no longer offer discount for S2KUK members!
