Hi again! ![biggrin.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
What oil should I have in my S2000? What do Honda use?
The oil level is above minimum (just) and want to get some oil should it go any lower.

Hello again
If you do a search for oil then there should be loads of threads about what one to use.
Short list
0-9000 miles mineral oil only due to running in compound (halfords orange tin or ford dealers cannot remember the viscosity some thing like 10-30w (10-40w halfords).
After fist service most people seem to use mobile 1
Better check the threads to be sure.

10W30 is what the manual recommends, but that's not a common grade. (You can get it from Ford, or use expensive stuff like Redline who do a proper 10W30).
5W30, or 10W40 are fine for topping up.
Also, it's really, really, really, really, really, really important to keep the oil at the right level. You shouldn't let it get close to the minimum.

Hi Dracoro,
Im currently at about 2300 miles from new, and having to top up around once a week to once a fortnight depending on how often I drive the car. I read pretty much all of the posts on Oil when I got the S, and received many many reminders on how vigilant we have to be on the topping up front (mainly from Tif !,
) I had problems trying to get the Shell 10W 30 stuff, but in the end after much consultation I plumped for Castrol Magnatec (10W 40 - I think) which it seems to be doing fine on, quite readily available from Halfords and cheap at half the price.
one piece of advice I will give - Make sure you buy a decent oil pourer / spout thingy (technical description) as the oil filler cap on the S is set right back in the engine bay underneath where the bonnet pivots. I found the angle of the bonnet over the oil filler cap meant that pouring straight from the spout of the oil bottle was impossible and resulted in me spilling oil over the rocker cover
<doh!> (all because I was in a hurry and didnt use the oil pourer), which ended up smells worse than the clutch for several miles.
Just remember check that oil regularly mate !

cheers mike, that is indeed the one I plumped for in the end. Should have bought one when I got the oil first time around really.
R.
ps - I was initially drawn to the massive concertina'd orange filler tube with funnel, but the last minute realisation that it looked like something a vet might artificially inseminate a cow with meant I went for the plastic measuring jug.
