Slightly above - that will be fine. It must only be slightly though. Don`t really overfill a lot.

If it is a lot over, you are best dropping some by releasing the sump plug. Then refill from above as normal.

It includes destruction of the cat convertor and can result in general engine problems/destruction(!). It's best to be very sure about it.

If you feel it is a lot over, don't drive it. Drop some oil.

Surely if you let some out of the sump plug you'll need to replace the sump gasket?

Huh?

Just drop the sump plug - not the fecking sump!

Worst case you replace the washer on the plug - but that's not always needed.

Like I said, if it isn`t too high, you'll be fine. If you really are not sure and it could be a litre over, def do not drive the vehicle.

If it's just over the full mark then should be no probs. If its a long way over then the bottom end bearings could smack the oil when the engine is running. This gives rise to splashing and excessive lubricatant in the wrong places and can cause the engine to break.
