Default Oh Damn!! I don't believe this!!

As some of you remember I got a new S2000 today and tonight I discovered something which is set to seriously piss me off. The S does not go into my garage very easily at all. I think my garage must be extra bloody small but in terms of width it is so close and needs such a precision piece of parking that the passenger side has to be as close as 2 inches in order to stand any chance of actually getting out of the car. Even then the drivers door will only open enough for me to do the impression of an indian rubber man whilst vacating the vehicle. I thought I had checked the dimensions and it fitted ok, I was very wrong.

I got two choices :- either leave it out parked on the drive all the time or risk trashing the paint work every time I put it in the garage and give myself a hernia.

Apart from knocking down the garage wall and making it wider, has anyone got any ideas on what I can do ? Does anyone else leave their S out all the time to face the elements ?

I feel a bit pi$$ed off to tell the truth, cos it drives lke magic!

Sorry DuggE but

Seriously though, I've got a very small garage too. The technique I use is to drive in then turn the wheel left to full lock, and drive forward slowly. The tyre jams up against the wall and gives you maximum room to get out. Works for me, but I suppose it depends on the size of the garage.

I've got a work contact who had even more trouble than you though.
He bought a new house, then discovered that, even though he could get his car into the garage, the only way to get out of the car was through the sunroof! He even ended up on the Scottish teatime news and ended up taking the builders to court. Don't know the outcome, must ask him on Monday.

Luckily I've got a double garage now but the single at my old house was also way too small. It didn't help when I added a remote opener which further reduced the aperture.
Why on earth do they build titchy garages ? The S is not much longer/wider than Amanda's Civic, which is standard car size.

If you really couldn't fit the car in the garage it might be a good idea to get a car cover.

You have my sympathy. I think salemen have a special tape measure made of elastic I find a soft bed headboard to protect the door and a handy piece of copper pipework to help me get out of the car come in handy.

I'm sure one day I'll pull on that pipe and bring half the wall down on my car

Although very nerve wracking at first, driving that close to the wall with my left wing mirror, its now no problem and the car is safe and alarmed up.

Oh no

Now you've given me something else to worry about, along with -

Muz Mats
Stereo Upgrade
Zymol or Zaino
Running in
Crap OEM tyres
18's
No clock
HKS
Which oil
Have I ordered the wrong colour
Where am I gonna store the hardtop

Thats if my car even turns up in March

My garage to is pretty tight, but my 200SX went in ok, and I could get out of it! Make sure you put padding on any protrusions that might hit the car (mirrors are the widest point). Take your time and get someone to help you getting the car in the exact right spot. Then find some way of memorising where that spot is; marker on the floor or wall. The just keep practicing parking in that spot.

Hope this helps

Think I need to stay away from this site until I get my S information overload
