No, because the comptech icebox is enclosed, has a carbon fibre lid on it and is more enclosed and smaller than a k&n fipk, it draws air from the hole on the inside fender.

You would have to rig a tube from the LHS faux vent all the way to the hole in the fender, but it would have too many bends, be too small in some places and do little difference IMO other than shit the filter up very quickly IMO.

The comptech ice boxes were supposed to be good , if they are any better than the k&n fipk, aem well that's debatable.

P.S do not over oil the filter too, one thin coat spraying it from 6inches away is sufficient, k&n filter oil is no good for a foam type filter BTW.

cheers for the heads up and info. for me it wasn't that the comp tech was better, i just preferred the look of it in the engine bay. silly i know as no one will ever see it.

its a 2nd hand jobbie and i'm very tempted to put a different filter on it. possibly find a cotton gauze or dry filter that will fit onto the mount as a replacement. or order a new foam element.

i did something similiar on my K&N typhoon on my old car and retro fitted an APEXI filter to it as i preffered the filter element from my use of it on previous cars.

just need to find the dimensions of the current filter and go on the search.
