Removal of centre caps is possible without removal of wheels.
Long flatbladed screw driver and use one of the lug nuts as a pivot/leverage point.
Done mine plenty of times without damaging the wheels.

This is good to hear, I shall give this a try and prob be less of a wuss... As long as I don't slip and put a nice scratch down one of them!
