Default OEM intake hose?

I was just interested in what every body's opinion on the OEM intake hose were, I was just having a look at one and in my experience its good to have as smoother air flow as possable but the oem item has some ridges in it? Dose any one know if there is any benefits to changing to an aftermarket item? Happy crimbo btw.

The on I just looked at was not, in the middle there is three or four ridges in it. I will try and get a pic in a bit.

Samco used to produce a replacement for the OEM pipe. The Mugen intake uses the OEM pipe which is sensible as the intake pipes have different junctions and sensors through the models. I would guess if Mugen thought there were big gains to be had by changing the pipe they could of designed something rather than use the OEM. A couple of companies have produced intake pipes to replace the OEM when used with the Mugen intake, I've got one in carbon fibre and there is one available in Titanium. I don't think that there's a performance change from the one I have?

Could be to capture any moisture traveling up the pipe and puddle it to evaporate?

Nah, I reckon it's just to allow for engine V chassis movement.

Nice socks BTW

like you say probably to do with movement but as its rubber you would have thought it would have enough movement any way, haha yep they are nice and warm on building site's.
