Octane Boosters
I often hear positive things being said about Octane Boosters - Especially Millers - Here: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...ode=MOL3114-500
They claim in increase of two to three octane points so Tesco's 99 would go to 101 / 102 and people have reported better fuel consumption along with a slight power increase.
Has anyone ever tried it in their S2000 - is it all abit un-nessecary and bullsh*t??

Mothballs, I hear they boost the octane too.
Tesco puts ethanol (alcohol) in their 99RON stuff to get the number up. Just get yourself some of that and top it up. That'll increase the RON I'm sure.

Turtle, one of the technical gurus on here who sadly doesn't post much any more, did comment once that he would be wary of using octane booster with Optimax (and presumably the comments would also apply to V Power) as there was the potential for a chemical reaction between the booster and the additives in the petrol which would cause lead to manganese deposits building up in the engine.
I'm no techie but it does occur to me that there's probably not a lot to be gained by adding it to 98/99 RON fuel anyway since your ECU will most likely not be set up in such a way as to be able to take advantage of it.

Octane isn't a direct performance booster. Higher octane allows engines to run higher compression without detonation.
The calorific value of the fuel (how much energy potential is in the fuel), is what increases performance.
Therefore, If your car can happily run on 95 octane fuel you aren't necessarily gaining anything from running a higher octane fuel unless the calorific value is also higher.
It's very hard to get information regarding these values, but I've always found esso supreme (97 octane) to offer good performance.

If the ECU is not mapped to take advatage of it, theres no point.
Has anyone noticed any difference using 95 to 97/98, the S is designed to use 97RON. I cant say personally as i always use optimax.

I've had to use a bit of 95 on a couple of occasions, and it runs really rough.

Interestingly my friend has a jap DC5 he say when he uses Vpower its runs like a bag of crap but when he uses optimax its fine!
