Default Notchy, crunchy, ratchety brake pedal

Hi All,

Bit of an odd one but in the last few days I have noticed that my brake pedal makes a sort of crunchy sound when lifting off especially when I first get in - supposedly once I start using the pedal it loosens up/warms up but I can't think what the noise could be. It literally comes from the pedal rather than outside and I can feel it slightly through my foot. Brakes are working fine. Any ideas?

Thanks

Tim

Brake cable?

This isn't a Model T ford

Pedal might need some grease on the pivot point?

Is it a squeaky pedal?

is it the ABS kicking in, Had these symptoms on another car before, But you definatly know when it is the ABS, usually caused by a faulty sensor.

No it's not squeaky and nor is it ABS as it makes the noise when engine is off (though pedal soon hardens up without power).

I've not tried to get my head down there yet so I'll check out the lube thing but it's not stiff and it sounds almost like its rattling, like something is lose or broken. Any other ideas?
