Have you had the gearbox oil changed?

i spoke to honda servicing dealer and he tell me the service was a full one and the clutch fluid was drained and gearbox oil drained, not sure if it has been my driving style since or the fluid change that has made it worse since

Putting mine into first (with clutch definately fully depressed) makes the car jolt a little. Sure hope its not the gearbox its only done 11k !

If you only get the problem when cold, it's probably not the known synchromesh problem. The S2000 gearbox is commonly a bit tight and notchy when cold - although the fact that you say it is almost impossible to get it into gear makes it sound to me like that's not the problem.

The gearbox on my 02 gave out at about 12,000 miles - the synchros on fifth gear collapsed, making it next to impossible to engage or disengage the gear. It felt like that all the time though, not just when cold.

If you were feeling a bit underhand, you could always see whether Honda will see you an extended warranty (not sure whether they will do so for JDM cars) - go to a dealer other than the one you've had looking at it to date.....

Are you sure it's not getting progressively worse because the weather has been getting colder? My gearbox can be a little stiff from 1st - 2nd when cold but it soon loosens up after a few miles.
