You need a strinkingly different colour, which is why black looks good with white, silver or red.
If you go for black on something that's not quite black, it'll look like a botched accident repair.
Maybe with your Deep Purple car you should for lime green. Mmmmm.

It either needs to be a perfect match or obviously different. Something that's slightly different would look odd imo. I don't think any other colour hard top would look quite right on Midnight Blue Pearl.
Shame as it's a really nice colour.

Get it wrapped in carbon vinyl - could always photoshop it first.
