Non GT or GT
Is it really worth the extra for the hardtop?
I'm cut between 2 cars. Ones a GT with hardtop, looks very good condition. Other is a non gt so no hardtop but absolutely immaculate, both 04, both 58k miles.
Nearly £1k difference in advertising price (tbh I think both r over priced)
GT is up for £8500, non gt is up for £7800.
Obviously it comes down to what you can afford etc, just wondering if its worth the extra for the hardtop and being a 'GT'
Cheers

Others will come along with opinions but it's a convertible first & foremost. The hard top is not to everyone's tastes. I was looking for a roadster, but a GT came along so I bought the car and sold on the hard top. The only difference is the 'GT' includes a hard top/fitting mechanism kit fitted, otherwise both cars are the same

if your not sure if you want a hard top, the chances are you don't need one. I personally think the hardtop looks good so I wouldn't buy one without it. also you need to think about where your going to keep it as its not small to store over the summer

I bought a GT with a view to selling the hardtop, still got it and glad I kept it
Only been on the day I got it tho (this year)
Personally its down to money, if you like the car, it has one and is the right money then why not have one
If its not garaged I would try for one with

I drive my S2000 all year for 12k miles and I am glad I bought a GT.
My kindly neighbour helps me lift the hard-top on and off annually.
It's an event and like having 2 cars.
It has helped keep my soft-top in great condition and provides a much more pleasant wet/cold weather driving environment.
If I buy another S2000 after 'Berlinda' it will be another GT.

Do you have somewhere to store the hardtop, remembering that it can get damaged easily. It's also a 2 man job to lift it off.
Oppotunist roof down drives in the middle of winter are awesome as well and you'll miss that with the top on.

I bought a hard top for my old mk2 mx5 a few years ago.
Loved the look.
Loved the 'feels like two different cars' thing.
Enjoyed the extra heat and rear view visibilty
But.
REALLY hated the missed dry day top down opportunities (despite being able to do the roof on my own, it was still a chore...and couldnt be done at the traffic lights)
For the last point I wished that I'd spent the money elsewhere. Maybe a tummy tuck or a weave.

Yes I do have somewhere to keep the HT. the main reason I'm swaying towards the GT is to protect the roof in the worser months in this amazing country.
Might aswel stick the links up and get people's thoughts/opinions.
GT:
http://bit.ly/1eUlRCT (yes it's eBay but its also on another forum I'm on do not your usual Somalian pirate)
Non GT:

IMO, they're both a bit overpriced but have lower than average miles on their side and look to me very good condition.
Decisions decisions. 1st world problems.
