Default Noisy Roof

Hi all, I've had my car about 2 weeks now and absolutely loving it I only have two questions really; firstly I've got the GT and find with the hardtop on it rattles and bangs about like buggery, is this normal?? Secondly when I'm driving along I can hear a metallic scrapping sound coming from the rear end. As part of the deal I asked them to check the disks and pads and I was told they're ok, I'm going to take it to an independant garage for them to have a look. There does appear to be a 2" layer of "rust" on the outer edge of the disks could that be the cause??

Thanks for your help in advance

With regard to the hard top, I have a 2002 model and there are no rattles, wind noise etc, I use Shinetsu rubber grease on all of the seals to keep them in good order.
Sounds like you may have an adjustment issue if your HT is rattling about, if you get hold of the workshop manual, it describes the adjustment procedure.

Where do you get the shin-etsu silicone grease from JB? From your local Honda dealer or from elsewhere?
TIA

I took mine back to the Honda dealer. A mechanic came out with me and was shocked at how much it rattled. He adjusted the front catches. There are 3 shims under each catch as standard, and I think he removed 2 from each side.
It transformed the car from sounding like a bag of spanners to complete silence.

That's the one. Its also in the FAQ.

You will almost certainly need the part number. Honda Parts seem not to know anything about it! I had to explain what it was used for.

Still sounds like a lot of rust.

Scraping sound doesn't sound right either. Can you post a photo of the disc?
