Noisey Hardtop

Noisey Hardtop
I managed to dent my hard top a little while ago, I had dent wizard take a look. He said that he couldn't do it after he took a look.
Ever since then the hard top has rattled when I go over bumps etc... I have just taken a look at the catch he took off and I have found that he has chewed up the heads on the screws and one of them has been cross threaded, and now will not screw in all the way.
The little catch thing that hooks under the windows doesn't fit tight anymore and I'm guessing this is why it rattles. Does anyone know how many spacers there should be between the hardtop and the catch???
Anyone know the best way to pursue dent wizard???
Steve

I'd write a nice polite letter to Dent Wizard explaining what has happened, why you believe they have damaged the heads on the screws (i.e. it was undamaged before they took them off) and let them know what you expect from them i.e. to pay for the repair.
If you get nowhere with the actual Dent Wizard guy you dealt with you can then take it further with the head office (Dent Wizard UK?)
All the best.

I suffered from hardtop woes from Sept - Dec.
It was all cured by a liberal application of Vaseline.
It sounds as if you do have some screw problems, but if you have annoying creaks and rattles, break out the 'line.

Sorry to hear about Dent Wizard, I agree that you should write to him and cc his head office and probably include an estimate for the repair from a Honda dealer.
As for hardtop noises, they will moan and groan in extreme temperatures as they start cold (plastic contracts) and as they warm up the plastic expands and fits the gaps properly, which is why they are noisier in the cold, although a liberal application of Vaseline does help!!
But beware, when I took mine to my friendly Honda dealer, they messed around with it a bit too much in their attempts to fix the noises and damaged my door seal!!! Doh!!

Absolutely, I took my S to local Honda dealer twice with creaking roof. They fixed it immediately with silicone spray.
However, in cold weather the silicone soon gave way.
Vaseline is where it's at.

I remember when I got my car - the hardtop never creaked - once I took it off and then put it back on in winter - it creaked like crazy. I used shin-etsu grease on all of the seals and it was instantly like before - silent and no more annoying creaks etc.
I applied it on all the seals - doors, bonnet, boot and the windscreen and hardtop. Great stuff!

I'm not talking creaks guys and talking about the stuipd thing bouncing up n down and making a banging sound, like a rattle. See it didn't make a sound before Mr handy had ago at it.

Sounds like you need a new locking thingy. or maybe just some new screws. Why don't you pop into a local dealers and speak to the guy at the parts desk and see if he can give you some replacements.
