No Vtec until the engines warm.
Remember reading this but it never sinks in until it happens to you;
Just left my house in North London this morning, got stuck behind granny doing 20mph, bided my time until I got a clean stretch and then started to overtake. Got carried away with the acceleration then it stopped! The rev limiter was stopping me going over 7000rpm, dropped it into second and carried on. Felt a Pratt, getting carried away like that and then getting told off by my car. Granny still plodding behind doing 20 with a tailback building, oh the joys of London.

If it's any consolation, I got caught out by the rev limiter when pulling away from cold at the weekend, despite having been driving the car for almost 18 months

And if you've mechanical sympathy, you'll let the car warm up a bit longer than long enough for the limiter to be gone. It takes a bit longer for the oil to be up to temp. I still like the '4 mile rule'.

Guys,
Engine wasn't entirely cold, it had two bars! Just gets you carried away when it starts to accelerate. Now your all making me feel VERY guilty, I'm gonna have to give her a full manicure this weekend to make her feel better now!

I've always been sympathetic to my cars and I just can't understand how people can be anything else. Not judging, just not comprehending.
