Squeak,
My MY02 has a definite, pronounced switchover, especially with the air box lid off.
Mine also has some rattling, but has gone in for a 54k service, to include valve clearances, which I hope will do the biz.
Failing that, it'll be TCT and/or chain change next.

My mileage is 58k
The car was driven today by another forum member and it seems to be ok
The conclusion is that I need to go to the local builders merchant and buy a brick to put in my right shoe
Saying that I do tend to be a smooth driver so don't drive the car as hard as I should and with the added immunity to the vtec
Panic over
For now

If you have a PRM and you can't hear vtec come in then it isn't*.
It sounds deep from 4krpm to vtec point and then it sounds like a cross between a big V8 and a man playing drums on your temples.
(Apart from in tunnels when it just sounds like you're being shot at by heavy artillery)
*IMO

(I see it's the driver as the thread evolved).

I went out in Squeak's car last night and I can confirm that it's a problem with the nut behind the wheel! Special heavy shoes are being sourced as we speak
