You have checked the oil, I take it?
MAP sensor tends to bring other issues with it and you might expect to see a CEL in some circumstances.

The oil is fine
I was comparing with AE's old car Didn't realise that his old car and my 02 could be so different. Thanks guys
As far as the airbox lid... I have a PRM air intake and an Amuse exhaust and it all seems to sound the same apart from a slight change in noise at about 4k rpm?
Was hoping the old Eagle may contribute to give his thoughts on how the car drove
EDIT: There doesn't seem to be a kick when vtec engages

I have only ever driven a MY02 and MY06 before and there was slightly less kick than my MY00.
Now i have even less of a kick but im enjoying the 7-10bhp midrange with a lower vtec point

No noticeable difference between VTEC and non VTEC on an MY07. Just a constant surge of power.
When i tried to rev it when cold, the rev limiter cut in a 6000rpm, that makes a noticeable difference

If you have a PRM and you can't hear vtec come in then it isn't*.
It sounds deep from 4krpm to vtec point and then it sounds like a cross between a big V8 and a man playing drums on your temples.
(Apart from in tunnels when it just sounds like you're being shot at by heavy artillery)
*IMO

When I drove Squeak's car the acceleration was almost linear with no appreciable change at 6K revs. The general acceleration is very progressive and to my mind the car, over a standing start with my 04, would not show any appreciable difference in terminal speed despite my vtec being operational. Main problem at present with her car is the rattle from the timing chain where a new tensioner needs to be fitted.
On the subject of MAP sensors there was a mod to the 04 just after I took delivery. The sensor was changed and also a tie used to keep the connectors together.
I believe Squeak's 02 has only done about 48K so I am surprised that she is having all this trouble. Did she get a mileage check when she bought it I wonder?
