With regard to the AST shocks, I very much doubt they are gas monotube shocks (the "monotube" important) and so are less reilisent to a good work out because the piston head is smaller (running within a second skin rather than just the shock body that we see from the outside).
They are monotube.

Was actually also thinking of bringing along a tyre pyrometer - good for checking camber settings (which might be interesting comparing stock and lowered cars) and also how hard the tyres are being asked to work (a good indication of the extra grip over standard 'softly sprung' cars). Must remember to get a new battery for it.

Possibly of use:
Protyre in Fareham have recently installed a state of the art tracking rig and actually trained someone to use it. A very nice and competent chap set my track and cambers back to stock for me (car is 20mm lower) for a meagre
