Were the rear arches chopped when the over fenders were fitted? I suspect (although not in your case) we will start to see more wide arches as a solution to rust.

Will try and get some more pics in the next couple of days.

Yeah some of the arch needs cutting back, ruff guide is cut the out side skin to the correct position, then trim the inside skin but leave it a bit long so this can be folded over the out side edge and welded together, flatten it all down prime, paint, then under seal the lot.

Was looking at getting a Golf R or a Scirocco R they seem to tick all the right boxes for me but if I keep the S i will get a cheep run around.

Keep the S2000! It's far more reliable and funnier than those new VAG products. 4WD turbo Golf sounds like a good icetrack toy, though . Scirocco is prettier but FWD.
