My company car comes up for renewal next month so I asked for a quote on another S2000...... the reply came back that the S2000 has been dropped from the list of cars available so my prefered option is no longer available

If you are going to have to pay for decent wheels, interior, and other extras in the Boxster S I would go for either the 350Z or TT3.2 DSG.
They seem good value for money.
Surely you are going to have to wait AGES for a Boxster, my local dealer says there is now a 18 month wait for the Boxster S.

I assume you get back what you don't spend from your allowance, or you contribute the difference if more. In that case I'd go for the 350z and save yourself 110 a month. Sure the Boxster S is a convertible, but the 350z is a fine car, especially on a company lease plan to pay for the tyres.

If you are stuck on staying in the scheme go with the Boxster S. If you can opt out go with ade's suggestion of a beater (diesel) and the S. I am in a similar situation but am not allowed an S. I worked out if I charge the diesel beater back at Taxman approved rates it helps fund the S

In my view it isn't. Only the monthly payments seem less. Look at the whole cost of the different loans, you would be very surprised.
'won't have a no-claims discount on personal insurance'
Gotta start sometime, say you do lose your job, then you'd still be stuck with huge Insurance bills.

Also on the insurance side if I got laid off my sensible side would come out and I'd sell the car the company just gave me and get something cheap to run and insure

Being in a similar situation I would go for the Boxster S
Cheaper than buying and running it yourself
No debt risk
No worries of theft or damage coming out of your procket
Make the most of the oppurtunity
I wish we had a company car list like this!
Who do you work for - any jobs going?

coming out of the CC scheme means I won't have a no-claims discount on personal insurance
A lot of insurance companies at the time would accept this and offer a discount but I managed to find one that would give me full no claims discount ........ with protection
