Default Newbie from East London...with starting problems :-(

Hi

I have just picked up my S2000 Berlina Black MY01, Standard :-) Mods on its way,
I have owned a good range of Honda's...EM1 Coupe, VTI EK4, VTI MB6, EP3 and DC5
Naturally S2000 was next...picked up last week :-)

Just a few problems I have resolved on it, Full service with Motul Oil and Honda Oil Filter and an K&N FIPK on route...

I replaced the TCT (Brand New Honda Original ) today,

After a dew hours, I was driving as normal and it just stalled on the traffic lights and it failed to restart :-(

At first I thought the fuel gauge was wrong, as I already had 1/2 tank, but I fueled up another few liters anyway, but still no luck :-(
Tried to jump start, no luck...battery is fully charged.

Car does crank over but fails to start

I think it maybe the fuel pump or Crank Shaft Sensor

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks

Do you still have the original alarm? It's a POS and that would be my first port of call.

Code reader might be a good start - if it stalled, that doesn't suggest alarm issue though. Something like 02 sensor / coilpack / MAP sensor IACV etc etc - all of those should throw a code. Do you get any flashing idiot lights?

Did you change the TCT yourself..? Was it already slapping the guides?

You're going to need to get it recovered to somone who can check the valves retainers and pistons for damage before you consider if it's worth repairing the engine, but you say it just stalled no clattering you might be lucky.

No way, that is a major shitter mate.

When you fitted the new TCT did you fit it correctly ? ie pull the pin out after you actually fitted the TCT ?

I was gonna ask that...

If you're lucky and then engine has survived, approx 1200-1500 for a new chain fitted

To clarify, was the engine was running fine until just after you fitted the TCT ?

It is virtually unheard of for these chains to snap for no reason.

If the pistons and valves are ok then it is a straightforward ish job to replace, no need to remove the head (which is what your Honda dealer will say) just the sump, front cover, top cover, cams etc. Good luck.
