Default new windscreen needed

I know that this must have been covered endless times before - and I have already spent 30 mins on the search engine...

I just had a stone (rock) put a hole in the windscreen (drivers side) and it is spreading like mad.

I need your help...please!

Where do I get a new one from and how much is it gonna cost?

cheers

bob

Give Autoglass a call - will not affect your insurance and will cost

I've seen several windscreens replaced in the Customs & Excise car park next door to my office by local Autoglass type repairers.

It seems to be down to the skill of the repairers. I've seen two guys take 1 hour and one expert take under 1/2 an hour.

Your insurer will recommend someone, see if they are good enough, they will cover it and it will cost you about 50 excess - no affect to your NCB either, in most cases this is the same with most insurance companies

It takes 45mins.

Before you let him go, make absolutely sure that the rubber surrounds are flush and correctly fitted.

They are a bugger to put back and it takes a good repairer to do it properly.

The screens are typically not in stock, they normally take 1-2 days to come in.

Check the quality of the screen before you sign the document. I had a windscreen replaced in another car and i noticed a ripple in the the sightline (poor quality glass) They will try and save money. I had to get them to change itn (for free).

Autoglass replaced mine, but it took them a week to source a new one. They did come to my office though so I didn't have to take time off work. Cost me
