Yes, Photoshop is great. It's a bit complicated to get into and a bit heavy on system resources IMHO. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 and it's virtually all I use these days, though I've got several other packages. A lot of the features in these packages are more use to the graphical blokes than to photographers. You only really need the basic tools common to most of the better packages to be able to tackle pretty well anything in the way of image manipulation. I used to pi$$ about in the darkroom, mixing chemicals, etc etc. with no hope of achieving the results I get now with the light on and a brandy to hand.
