new speakers
Just fitted some Boston SL60s, Bought from bluesea on here (thanks Dave)
Came with custom adapters which made fitting a doddle. With stock HU the sound is so much better. The clarity is amazing, the bass is good without drowning out the rest. The stereo can be heard easily with top and windows down at high speed (legal of course ).
I would recommend upgrading the stock speakers to decent components with x-overs as the first step to stereo upgrade.
Modifry and HU next

Nah, you need to amp those quality speakers to really make them sing
Amp and HU are a must next.
Modifry is great too, there is a GB in the For Sales thread.

I like the idea of upgrading the S2000 sound system.
I agree with the idea of new head unit, amps, and speakers all round.
I will be looking to do all of this in the winter of this year, little project in the garage.

Glad you like the speakers Phoenix
I still have an amp for sale:

As recommended by Moff
A cracking amp, for a good price, it looks like a thing of beauty its almost a shame to have it hidden away.

Can't justify large ICE purchases in one go, so it's a little at a time.
1 Speakers- Done
2 Alpine 9850R
Modifry adapter
3 ? Amp
That'll do
Not after a mega bass, wake the neighbours system, just want clear sound that is audible with roof down at speed (<70 )

The Bostons I have just fitted are great, reasonably easy to fit, and sit behind the stock grilles (04 tweeters), but tweeters also have pods that would be easy to fit / recess in a pre 04 door
