Default New Shoes!

Just been in to get my 6th set of rear tyres (I am on 43k)!! Thats an average 8500 miles per set of rears for me.

Most of my tyres still have 3mm when I replace them, but I was slip sliding everywhere. As much fun as it is, I was getting fed up of taking it canny on roundabouts when I trying to destroy TDI's.

Glad I have got some thick tread for the infamous 'In-between Christmas and New Year' meet.

Take care out there!

Your best sticking with the OEM RE050s on your 05 IMHO - they are a good compromise between the SO2s (for 16" MY 2003 and older only - man's tyres), and girlie tyres.

Got 15K from my first set of rears and they still look good. I will be growing potatoes in them next year. (2006)

For rears I am on my 5th pair at 27.5K miles.
Bridgestone RE050 MZs x3
Dunlop SP Sportmaxx x2 (including current set)

I don't track the car and wish they lasted longer but then again I am not willing to change my driving style to save tread

How do you people go through tyres so quickly, I'm no slacker when it comes to driving briskly but luckily I don't seem to wear my tyres that much. I replaced my tyres about a year ago, have done the Nurgurbring for 2 days and an airfield day (so slightly coarser than a track) plus about 12,000 miles and am still on the same set of tyres which have about 4 to 5mms all round.

What do you think it is that makes your tyres wear so quickly??
