On a bypass in Cheshire this AM, SLK230 - rapid motor.
If Mr SLK is reading this, you do have a rapid car there - but I have to make you aware I wasn't totally gunning it
Anyone raced one of these?

You mean the S actually came out of the garage, Col...?
I had a play with one on the A34 a couple of week ago. Probably the same bit of bypass. I held my own, until we reached silly speeds and the LSB kicked in.

Yes(!)
The day looked nice and I have two private spots in parking bay at work so I can straddle both, ie maximum anti dink.
...Plus I`m not staying up here long.
I would guess that was the same SLK. He was up for it and it did motor. Clearly the Kompressor windmill helps a lot.
I would argue over 80 it had more go in it.

Are you sure it wasn't an SLK280... I don't think there is a new 230. IIRC the 280 has got 230 bhp and a 3 litre engine so it should be rather quick!
[Edit] Just read that the 280 can do 0-60 in 6.3 and is limited to 155mph - not a bad car for

Just had a look at the Mercedes website and like Moff says there's no 230, just a 280 which has 230bhp/ 300 nm. Considering how lardy they are (although the torque helps there I guess) I'd be surprised if it was that much quicker. Nice cars though, much nicer looking than the old one too.

Nearly the same figures as my Volvo (225bhp, 300NM) and you'd be surprised at how rapid that is once underway (just don't show it a tight bend)..
The torque plays a BIG part, as does the auto box with sports mode.
