New roof - cheap but fantastic!

The elastics are not even part of the fabric roof, they are riveted to the frame. Hence, they aren't replaced as part of replacing the roof material, whoever is doing it. To do a 'proper' job would require drilling out the old rivets and re-riveting new elastics, which would have to be custom made as I don't believe they're available from honda. Hence, most people are using 'fixes' like the modifry solution, where you cut of the elastic where it attaches to the frame (leaving the rivets in place), and use piano wire poked into the hollow centres of the rivets to hold new pieces of elastic. Works well enough, but I'm not sure is a 'good' enough solution for a company to supply and fit, provide warranty etc. Suspect it's probably more hassle than it's worth in their eyes, hence they leave it alone. Easy enough to DIY the workaround though. Or just push the bar back manually when you lower the roof.

I think the elastics are regarded as part of the frame not part of the roof material but no doubt someone who has had the job done can confirm what is included. I'm fairly certain new seals aren't part of the deal.

Any update on how these roofs are holding up?
Thinking i might make a trip during the summer.
Also, anyone know where i could source a glass rear screen for the "exchange" closer to the time?

Had a Jack Smith roof on my old Mx5 for years. cleaned/retreated properly once a year and it was still looking brand new when I sold it. Will be getting my S2k down there when I next have a bit of spare cash.

I can't really comment on how they hold up, as I've only had mine for a few weeks. But I'm very happy with it!
Do you currently have a glass rear screen? If so, you shouldn't need to source one. As he has the roof ready to fit when you arrive. You then leave your glass rear screen for the next customer.

I'm looking for a glass rear screen to replace my plastic one. There's a glass screen for sale on Pistonheads Parts section. It's in Hampshire though so too far for me and I doubt it can be posted.
Does anyone know how much a new glass rear screen is from Honda? If they even sell them?

I'm not selling them at present, but they are easy enough to make yourself.
