Had mine done by him yesterday, very impressed for the price. It's not perfect, it's a little wonky round the window (a tiny bit) but not enough to notice. Took him four hours from me turning up to me driving away.

The posts about Uncle Bryn sat in a shed on his own on a sewing machine surrounded by all the offcuts are very true. It's a low budget operation, but that's why it's so cheap. Worth noting he doesn't rake card payments too, I walked into town and got some cash out.

Re: him making a roof and sending it to you, he said he prefers not to, as they're hard to fit and he often gets hassled with calls asking how to fit them. Still, for the £260 plus a tank of fuel it's worth having him fit it.

That looks great! Mine has torn just behind my shoulder (corner of window and door area) on both sides now, considering a repair but at this price for a new roof it seems a bargain!

Loving my new roof. Picked it up in Feb and it's a nice finish, with taped seams (unlike the oem roof) and of course, it's mohair rather than vinyl. I also replaced the elastics which, combined with the more flexible roof, means that it folds much more easily than the oem, especially when cold.

Mine did have a small issue with a corner near the rear bottom of the window, but a quick trip back there and he was more than happy to fix it up. He said it was the only time he'd had a problem, and given the glowing feedback from everyone I've heard from, I'm inclined to believe him.

I've since treated it with a single coat of Fabsil Gold waterproofer and the rain now runs off it like the proverbial duck's back. It doesn't need the treatment, as the material has a membrane within it, but i prefer the 'beading' of a water repellent surface. It should also help keep it clean.

I see quite a few people have had some problems with the elastics - has Jack been notified about the problem?

I didn't have any issues other than the elastics being old and perished, so not performing their function correctly (on the old roof or the new one). Nothing to do with the fabric or fitting of the roof itself.

So he reuses the old elastics?

I only ask becaue there were a few folk in this thread who mentioned the same problem (my monsoon roof is doing the same too): https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/101...old-correctly/
