I sometimes get this if I haven't used the car for a while, (slight binding or build up of crud on the pad)
go for a drive and have a few hard braking moments see if this frees them up.
Be careful and maybe avoid doing this on the M25

I read in a car mag recently about a similar noise they figured out was a stone stuck between pad and disc - they sorted it by some "prolonged" reversing to dislodge it - maybe worth finding a quiet road and trying a long reverse and some braking.

I just had a rather surprising experience....
Figured as I drove past kwikfit I might pop in, within a few mins my car was lifted above my head and we were giving her a good once over. Exhaust looking pretty in general, rest of underside nice and tidy.
He lowered it and then took all 4 wheels off, all calipers open and all pads removed. My fronts very low and it was this that was source of the noise metal clip was catching. No stones or anything - we had them completely stripped and would have found that.
Decided rears are Ok but fronts def need doing.
Options were to pay
