new noise coming from the wheels
ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-
faster the car goes faster the ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch goes. metallic noise
Sound is coming from passenger side wheel. Assume front as you hear it when turning right or on straight but not at all when turning left.
Touch the brakes and the sound ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch stops immediately and then tarts as soon as you let off the brakes.
Can I assume this to be a sign telling me it is time to have my pads changed (I know from last service they are loaw) or is this something much more sinister??
Only just noticed today when roof was down - dont hear it with roof / windows up.

Sounds like contact between pad and disc due to:
1) something stuck on pad
2) edge of disc rubbing on pad if lip has formed
3) small stone behind disc trapped against backplate
4) pad rubbing on disc due to slight corrosion on caliper piston
5) slight wear in caliper assembly allowing pad to touch disc
6) slightly warped disc
at least these are my top 6 from recent years hope this helps.
7) something stuck in tyre tread
8) slight wear in front wheel bearing
Two more for luck
1) something stuck on pad
2) edge of disc rubbing on pad if lip has formed
3) small stone behind disc trapped against backplate
4) pad rubbing on disc due to slight corrosion on caliper piston
5) slight wear in caliper assembly allowing pad to touch disc
6) slightly warped disc

does this mean I have to spend money on my car and my g/friend cannot moan about it because I have no choice but to spend the money??

I read in a car mag recently about a similar noise they figured out was a stone stuck between pad and disc - they sorted it by some "prolonged" reversing to dislodge it - maybe worth finding a quiet road and trying a long reverse and some braking.

thats way too many options for a saturday arvo!I'm gonna go down my friendly zort / brake centre let them check em out I think.
