I agree with Mark B. The MX5 I had was the best car I've owned - enjoyable to drive all the time. Unlike most other cars it was fun even at legal speeds. Most modern cars, S included, need to be well beyond the legal limit on public roads to be appreciated. It hit the spot for me in a way the S still hasn't - if you've read the write up on the S in the latest EVO I sort of feel the same way.

I'd have another and I like the look of the new one, but when the run outs of the old sport model are selling new for c

Slightly O/T, but I watched the MX5s racing at Donnington yesterday afternoon - hugh pack demonstrating how well regarded the little car is as a cheap entry into motorsport. I left when the 2CVs started and the commentator began explaining how the 2CV driver worked in groups, slipstreaming each other, just to get any speed up at all....

To quote the commentator (who claimed the 115bhp Caterham grads were doing 130mph on the fastest parts of Donnington...):
