Default New Member and a small prob already!

Hi all, finally took the plunge and bought my 03 Moonrock/ red S2k this weeekend. Only 32k miles and loving the car...

Came across a problem yesterday... the screenwashers appear dead!. Checked fuse under steering wheel and heres where in get confusing.. the fuse marked WASHER MOTOR stopped the soft top working! is this normal? The fuse was fine but washers still not working. checked rest of fuses and all OK. Not sound from motor when washers activated so suspect washer pump but wondered if anyone had any other ideas before I strip out wheel arch liner? Thanks in advance...

When you say strip out arch liners, do you mean screen or headlamp washers? If it's headlamp then they only work when the lights are on.
Not sure about the soft top thing but again if it's headlamp washers it could be a home mod to stop them working with the roof down.
If it rearly is the screen washers then there is a PDF of the workshop manual knocking around the forum that will have the wiring diagrams etc. I've downloaded it but can't find it at the moment! Let me know if you can't find it and I'll try harder.

The soft top and washer motor share a common fuse...No. 8, 20A under the dash, drivers side.

Does the soft top still not work? If so, the fuse is faulty...have you checked it with a multimeter? It should be visible if the fuse has broken though.

Silly one...but is there fluid in the bottle???

The soft top works with fuse in place so fuse is OK and it is the Screenwashers that are faulty. Headlamp wash works fine/ plenty of water in bottle. Cars not done a great deal of miles for age so wonder if limescale in motor could have burned it out. A wiring diagram would be very good if you come across it. I didnt get an owner manual with the car? Are they downloadable by any chance? Thanks for speedy relies guys. Pics will follow as soon as I get it cleaned and up to standard!

Looking at the diagram loftus posted when you've found the washer motor try connecting a lead stright from the battery + to the black & white side of the motor (terminal 1) to see if its working, if not connect a lead to terminal 2 black to ground as well. If this is no go the motor is fubar if it's running you can chase the wiring back.

Be careful here there is some conflicting info!

If it is an early Moonrock (MY04) and not an 03 (maybe 53 )
These cars had a button on the dash that would make the HID washers work WITHOUT the headlights on.
However there was a TSB that modified them to only work with the HID's on
On these cars the HID washers have a seperate fuse

The screen washers aren't great and the washer bottle can suffer for build up preventing the pump working or even burning it out.
Can you hear the pump come on?
Unforunately it is wheel arch liner off to get to it and the bottle. (drivers side)

I don't suppose the version that covers 04- models is available?
