Honsta - i know mate i realise i am very lucky, still dosent seem real to me lol + yes the ek is looking very sorry for itself, onwards and upwards tho the 182 cup is one of my freinds cars, very nice!

m1bjr - mate why be so negative? ive just signed up to this forum, not a very warm welcome tbh! insurance is not an issue so why bring it up? also why jump to conclusions? i know all the regelations with harnesses, just because i am young dosent mean i dont do things properly i study motorsport engineering in uni, the harness will be mounted to a cusco 5 point cage with harness bar! so you wouldnt drive an NSX TYPE R then because it has no airbag haha

TommyS2000 - i gathered this mate, with are car of this class i expect critisism but i dont see the need in being so harsh! i am going to modify it as it is my new project now the civic is no more, im a honda enthusiast so it will be tastefully modified, no ebay parts here lol! the regamasters in the spoon sw388 fitment i was first looking at, but i think 16's are to small for me, but the wheels look nasty in 17"! ile make up my mind soon enough! definetly got to be white with the full sticker kit tho

The insurance company are rubbing their hands....

And as for airbags - do you live on a different planet to the rest of us?

Unless you got that harness mounted to a high level bar, it's going to pull you down in that seat in a big bang.
Hope you like a busted back or collar bones.

You may want to rethink your mods.

VOSA is changing the way the MOT test is conducted real soon, and that wont pass.
I'm sure M is not being unwelcoming,

If you can afford the insurance, then is not a problem.

Airbags, for a road car I've got to agree, you never know what the other twunts are up to, and your insurence won''t cover you for personal injury and will paste you for it, many won't even touch it.

As for VOSA, have a serch for "MOT", next year they are coming down like a ton of bricks, remaps will be a probable fail, mods like brakes and forced induction will have to come from authorised (read expensive) suppliers. Very tight on exhausts, and if you are caught with a decat!!!

Yes you will be able to mod the car just not drive it on the road, low loader to the track and back, the new (eurogit) MOT dose not look good.

I think part of what the guys are saying is don't so spending loads on mods that you can't use on the road.

Every one on the forum wants you to enjoy the best production sports car ever made, every VTEC'ing second of it!

I was thinking this myself but didn't want to sound too negative as the lads just got his new motor. I remember the feeling of owning my first S2000.

At 21 depending on postcode you'll be paying 1.5k plus I reckon. A few of the specialist insurers have stopped insuring under 25's infact under 30's.

Might be worth keeping it standard as you'll stand a better chance of getting it insured. I'd start ringing around now and start getting quotes before you start modding.... and do some serious saving!

Love the Civic, i'm sure i've seen it in real life somewhere as well!

S2000 looks good, one thing I would say is get the Geo done some where proper, once they are set up they drive much better

Amazing how much more fresh the S design is than the similarly aged Civic next to it!

i understand where your all coming from, your just giving me advice, thanks! but insurance is not a problem ive already sorted this otherwise i wouldnt have bought the car lol! also a freind of the family does all my m.o.t's, he knows every modification i buy for my car, if it is not legal he will inform me, but thanks for the heads up!

as for the airbag thing, i have my reasons why ive removed the standard wheel, by the time my car is out of hibernation + on the road it will have 2 recaro pole positions, cusco 5 point cage/harness bar with 2 takata harnesses attatched, the position + feel of the NSXR wheel is so much better than the stock s2000 one! i had this setup in my civic for over 3 years, perfect for what i want!

the civic does have a much older feel/look to it i agree, the s2000 feels so much better to drive compared to it! but also the civic is a very capable car with the right powerplant!

thanks for your comments

I'm sure it will look great Ross, you'll find a few sceptics on here regarding "unapproved" mods

I agree about the Geo, when i first got mine, it tended to keep jumping to one side, only slightly but still felt it was,not too good in the snow at the beggining of the year . Had the Geo done and has handled far better in the recent snow! I owned a Mr2Mk1 Super Edition that had a supercharger, then i had it fitted with an Mr2 Mk2 turbo engine and it was still a better handling car than the S2000 without the Geo being done!
Was at JAE this year, if anyone went over to the Toyota camp
Wasn't me but it was my old car that i owned for nearly 10 years and boy do i miss it!
