Thanks for all the info guys, its much appreciated!

So basically as long as the stereo doesn’t have a TV flip screen I should be ok? Originally I was a little concerned as I heard some reports that on some models the volume control knob can stick too much meaning the stereo door can’t be closed...

I've been looking at the following headunit...

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-cde...36u6n8koivli401

Good buy do you think?

I'll have to buy the optional ipod lead but the fact that you can change the colour of the display to red means I'd prefer this headunit over the 114bt model...

If possible I'd like to retain the CD drive so I ruled out the iDA models.
That's a decent unit. You can get free delivery using the code on the S2KUK website http://www.s2kuk.com/s2kuk/Benefits/Suppliers.php?cat=4

If you don't want to use the iPod lead, you can of couese use a USB stick. I think eSeM has one that allows you to close the door.

I got the 104BTi last year and it is great. Only thing to note is that my Old iPod (a classic before they were called that!) doesn't automatically turn off which is a pain, especially as the iPod lead doesn't put out enough power to 'jump start' either an iPod or iPhone if they are completely dead.

Also you can't use the dash mute button if you enable Bluetooth, as the headset has an either or option for some reason. Otherwise it is great!

When you buy a different unit, Is there a way you can still use the controls on the far right hand side of the dashboard?

Thanks for all the info its very much appreciated

Is the Modifry controller the only controller which can be used to enable the dash controls (I appreciate that its one of the best with all the added functions etc)?

I've had a quick look at Modifry's site and in all honestly it does look a daunting task to wire up the modifry connector (I hope I'm wrong)...

Thanks for your input

So I take it you didnt have any issues with the unit not fitting snug (the volume control pressing against the s2000 stereo door)?

The modifry can be purchased with a plug and play harness.
Takes 5 seconds to plug in.

Other dash controls are available BTW.

The modifry DCi is far superior than an audioleads one - it is more expensive though.

I used the audioleads controller. Less functions as others have said but at the time didn't realise there was a Plug and Play version and didn't want to wait for shipping. It works fine with my Alpine as mentioned earlier.

As far as the headunit fitting it's fine - no rubbing against the door or the like. I have no regrets getting this one.

I have the predecessor to this http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-deh6200bt.html (mines a 6100BT).

I bought the adaptor from caraudiodirect and it works fine with the dash controls.
