New head unit - iPhone 5s compatible
Hi all, having looked back through the pages in the s2000 electronics section I thought it best to my fellow UK members for some advice.
I'm in the market to buy a new head unit as my circa 10 year old kenwood has started to play up.
Having almost bought a Kenwood KDC-BT92U earlier today I had the foresight to look on YouTube for a review and discovered it wouldn't be compatible with the iPhone 5s due to the Lightning connector compatibility issue. There was also a similar but better model but again would not be compatible with the 5s
There is a compatibility site for kenwood v Apple but you have to select each individual model rather them just providing a list that will work.
I'd like to migrate to an iPhone friendly head unit and ditch the CD's.
What head units are out there that can be used with a 5s (or 6) Happy with Bluetooth streaming if the quality isn't affected but ideally I'd like to plug it in and allow it to charge at the same time, would also like the radio door to close as some I've seen are quite bulky. Budget wise between 100-200
I welcome the Apple haters, get rid of the phone feedback after my fellow sheep and non haters have given their advice

Thanks I have a modifry kenwood adaptor for my dash but could live without it or purchase a new dash interface if required.
The pioneer listed above looks a bit basic for me, whilst I prefer function over form it doesn't do it for me.

I have the non-dab version of this - it's awesome, and it's cheaper - bluetooth streaming is great but also works via usb. (rear usb - so door can be closed)

Lookes like I will need to get the 30pin-lightning adapter for this to work - Kim if you can confirm this that will be great.

Yep door closes just fine.
The headunit comes with a usb > iphone 30 pin connector cable. All you need is the apple 30 pin to lightning adaptor and bobs your uncle.

The adaptor MUST be the official apple one. Third party ones don't work for some reason.
This is quite handy for me as I still use my old ipod touch which uses the old connector so I just remove the adaptor when needed.
Don't forget, you will need the harness and patch lead for dash controls:
1 x CEL-ASC2629 - ASC2629 steering/stalk control adaptor

1 x CEL-ASCALP - ASCALPP Alpine Adaptor

This one looks just the job, does the radio door close ok as the Central button appears to protrude a lot?

My Alpine IDA X305s works fine with my Iphone 5, and will no doubt work ok with the 5s - lightning connector that is.
