New guy here!
Hi, looking for an S2000 in the near future. I hear from someone that the 2001 model is the one to go for if going 2nd hand due to the chassis and geometry but magazines reckon the newer one?
What power and torque gains have you guys been getting in the UK with NA tuning?
Cheers

Taken from the Technical FAQ sticky note:
Model Year differences
There are a few differences between the MY99 - MY01 models and the MY02 - MY03. The MY04 has further changes and a slight facelift. Note: The wind deflector became standard from MY01 onwards.
MY02 differences
The following changes were made to the MY02 car
Glass Rear Screen
Cd player with tweeters built into the door
Slightly restyled polished alloys
Chrome rings around the rear lights and chrome front light surrounds
A softer suspension setting which makes the car slightly less "pointy"
Repositioned headlamp washer switch
Some like the suspension changes and others do not, it is probably best to try both cars if you are in the market for a used S2000.
04 Differences
New front and rear bumper design
17" wheels with different Bridgestone tyres
New front and rear lights
Facelifted interior
Some suspension changes which include a slight ride height change and a little softening of the rear end.
Colour coded headlamp washers
Factory fitted alarm
New colours...

There's no large gains to be had from NA tuning. And if you wonder why, have a look at the Top Tens and look at the top ten NA cars on this web site. http://www.track-challenge.com/main_e.asp
Some others will no doubt be along and tell you what to do and how to do it, but there are no cheap gains.

if i was doing it all again i would only buy one with the glass rear screen , and i would buy one which had the hard top as standard, not that i would use the hard top but i think its worth the extra.
other than that the car is great in any form.

So if you're all so anti NA tuning do you have any Turbo or Supercharged engines? I have a friend who owns an air flow modification company and he said with reasonable money (On TB's) 15bhp can be had at the top end and gains of up to 50bhp in the mid range! Similar gains on torque!

Nope
Mine has Jenvey ITB's and ECu etc, i have 250bhp, 210@ wheels (alghough mine is a racing car and have lost 200+kgs of weight)
Basically it aint cheap, reckon on 4k for 10peak bhp, maybe 20ft/lb's and the power shifted down the revrange although that primarily because of the lower VTEC point.
No such thing as cheap power, even cams are relatively unproven on this engine- trust me i am looking
Pay a few hundred quid to make it sound nicer, or a few grand to go faster!
