Default New engine observations

As some of you are aware my engine was replaced after a seize, at the end of Feb.
Since then I've done 4000 miles on the new motor, after carefully running it in, and I am very pleasantly surprised with this engine.
The power delivery seems to be much smoother, with more bottom, not temperamental in traffic, and all round feels much quicker than the old motor !

On top of that it has only needed 250ml (yes mili litres) of oil as a top up !!

Is this the advancements that have been made with the 05 model car, as the engine's transformed mine

Must be, I've done 3,500 miles and not put a drop in.

Pcr I think it's more likely that your last engine was a bit of a dog (did you have the car from new?) A new engine should feel tighter than one with over 10k on the clock and should therefore feel slower.

Not sure if they'd replace an 03 engine with an 05 TBH. I know the later cars are known to use less oil.

Yep, had the car from new........Ran it in carefully, serviced according to schedule,
it drank a litre plus of oil per 1500-2000 miles and was quite temperamental in traffic, cutting out unless giving it loads of revs in stop/start traffic.

The new engine feels much stronger pre-vtec, and although it should feel tight and slower, it is noticeably better than the old one.

I had decided to give it back to the lease company once the mileage was up (75k), but the option to buy seem quite tempting now.

when my engine was replaced last year it drank very little oil for the first 10k miles. after that it loosened up considerably, and started to drink a bit more oil, about a litre every 9000 miles.
