Default New discs & pads needed

I need to replace my discs and pads soon, but rather than going with OEM spec, I want something a little more.

I have been searching around for a disc that wont rust over time, is drilled and slotted, performs well and is reasonably priced. I was looking at EBC, but right now, thats a little too much for the budget as there are a few other things I need to do on the car.

Any suggestions, thoughts or opinions ?

Why do you want slotted? If it's for cosmetic purposes, then fine, but for most road driving, there's no point.

Plain discs are usually cheaper.

All discs will rust eventually.

Most ordinary Discs are made from cast iron, and rust/oxidisation will occur to the non friction surfaces over time. Unless you paint these parts and don't get them to hot or they are plated.

But yes for OEM replacement with a similar product BI as Simon Says

Anything decent that is an actual, rather than cosmetic, upgrade over standard will cost more than EBC.

Out of interest, what the standard discs/pads like on a track day - capable, or fade-tastic?

On my BI discs I Masked the swept area and hub surface before spraying (including outer edges) with silver hammerite. 8 Months later and they are rust free.... any brake dust/dirt just wipes off and they look mint . They have been abused somewhat but have held up well, v few chips. Loftust has seen them I think.

OEM pads are reasonable on track depending on how you drive.

Hammer them, and 3-4 laps later you'll start to get some fade. The fronts fade first and then because the rears are doing so much more work but are very small pads the the rears start to wear quite quickly.

If you show them a reasonable amount of respect they are fine on track.

But to get something that is fade free on track you need spend some money.

Well, I guess I want the cosmetic feature for now as I wont be on the track for a few months.

Where can I source these BI discs ?

Is it worth getting something like this ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-S2000-EBC-ULTI...4b#ht_500wt_922

Are BI discs similarily priced ?

From Brakes International!

Front Disks : 2 @ £33.33 (BDS5994) = £66.66
Rear Disks : 2 @ £28.98 (BDS5995) = £57.96

Front Pads : 1 @ £20.58 (BPS2483) = £20.58
Rear Pads : 1 @ £14.43 (BPS2011) = £14.43

So Total of £159.63 + VAT + Delivery

^ That info is taken from here: Need Disks/Pads on all Corners !
