Default NEW CIVIC

We are still on the second car trail, that took a detour towards the new civic.
On saturday we sat in the new civic 1.8 ivtec at a honda garage in blackpool, & I must say we were very impressed with both the exterior look & interior feel. Couldn't drive it though because
it was Honda uk's car
I'm very tempted to order one on this viewing alone, ( 1.8 ivtec ex spec 140 bhp ) @16k however I've just been told that the 2.2 diesel 140 bhp will be available about the same time ( jan 06 ) it is pricier though.
Anyone driven the new one or have experience of the 2.2 diesel?

thx

I have the 2.2 diesel lump in our CR-V.

Very quiet for a diesel and by far the most silent I heard when looking at 4x4's. We also get over 40mpg again higer than the competion.

I think its 150bhp with a shed load of torque. Its Ok performance wise but It is a turbo diesel and a 4x4 so hardly sporty. but pulls and cruises well.

I'd imaging a little civic to probably get over 50mpg!?! and be a more fun but then you still get that turbo diesel power delivery which is all a bit dull. Think it would be a good buy though.

The diesel is reckoned by Glass's to have very low depreciation, equivalent to the 120D and A3 TeDeIous.

People speak very highly of the engine, yet I am unconvinced.

The lobster thermidor may be excellent, but at a Bar Mitzvah?

Either way did you ask when you would get it if you ordered a Diesel today?

Next summer I reckon, Honda have shed loads of orders for both but the petrol lands first on these shores.....

I've been told mid Dec for the 1.8 ivtec & jan/feb ( which means april ) for the diesel.

I'm leaning towards the 1.8 but its not available with leather until march ???

Coke burner with cows, then.

Might have had the first round of problems sorted out by then.

I would be very reluctant to buy a car in its first year of production (even a Honda).

Thanks for being the guinea pig, SNAPPER!

The S2000 I got was one of the first in the country....all the S2000's only suffered faults for 18 - 24 months before Honda started to rectify...(Seatbelt, Alloys, Oil bolt, Spark plug, clutch )

I'm sure the mass built civic's though, which have been built in the UK so tested more for our conditions will not suffer the same fate...............

It was only failing headlight relays and snapping steering column shrouds for the EU8 Civic.

Honda rectified them PDQ, to be fair.
