Default New Brakes

Hi all,

Please dont give me a hard time re the above (ie another brake question but even searching throws up so much mixed information) but i need to replace the discs and pads on my S before March so was hoping for some advice.

I just drive my S on the road but was wanting to go for EBC turbo grooved discs and red stuff pads as i had similar brakes on a 106 gti a number of years ago although with the green stuff pads on that car, and they made a great difference.

Now are red stuff pads pads suitable on the S for just road use or should i stick with the green pad? Also what are the best prices people have found for the above? And also how much would an OEM set of discs and pads costs and where is the best place to get them?

Also if you can be bothered i am also interested in peoples thoughts?

Thanks,

Simon.

Deano check out brakes international

They offer discounts to S2KUK Members

See here:

Personally I just use their regular discs, and I use Ferodo DS2500 which I get from Balance motorsport, who also offer the above discounts. Both links on the page referenced above. The DS2500 are highly acclaimed here

I had that setup for a while. I wouldn't bother with the disks, unless you're going for looks, but the red stuffs are good pads in my experience. You don't want greenstuff on a heavy car like an S2000. Use of DS2500s is somewhat contentious.

Hi all,

After some further research i think i am going to go for the ebc turbo groved discs on the front with red stuff pads from balance motorsport and then just go for the standard discs and pads from brakes international on the rear. My guess is the fronts are the ones that do most of the braking anyway, but will this setup adversly effect things?

Comments on this setup would be appreciated? Does anyone else on here run the same?

Thanks,

Simon.

Best to have the same pads all round. It's a mistake to think the rears don't matter as the fronts do most the work; in fact the S is notorious for overheating its rear brakes on trackdays.
