Default Need a suggested place to stay

Just thought I would ask for some assistance

Driving down to Italy this summer and have two nights spare between Siena (Florence) and Courmayeur (Mont Blanc Tunnel) on the way back

We were looking at somewhere midway, along the cost up near Savona (east of Geneva) but cannot find anywhere really. Either they dont reply or do not book for only 2 nights and have a minimum of 3+

Can anyone suggest a decent place to stop for a couple of nights between these two locations?

Thanks a lot. Prefer coastal but happy inland if nice

You say Geneva, do you not mean Genoa?

If so I would recommend Rapallo. Had a night there last year (can't remember hotel name), but really nice place with marina.

HTH

Rapallo is near Portofino, known as the Monaco of Italy.

Unfortunately we couldn't afford to stay there, it's

yes thats the area I like the idea of, I had a look on the map and did some searches, did find a cheapish nice looking B&B a few miles west of Rapallo in Recco (other side of jutty out bit) and have emailed them, see what they say. plenty in that area so I guess we could just risk it and turn up but it appears to be a popular place in july

Portofino is somewhere I initially looked at but couldnt afford it either

Funnily enough we spent two nights in Rapallo on our tour last year.

Our hotel was great, but was not that impressed with Rapallo itself. Restaurants were distinctly average.

We visited Portofino too and did not even bother with a drink given the rumoured 30 euros it would have cost us!

There is also Santa Margarita in between Rapallo and Portofino which appeared to have slightly better restaurants than Rapallo.

Just found it...

As I said, not cheap. In fact it was the most expensive hotel we used all holiday. We were only there for two nights and fancied spoiling ourselves for a bit. THe price included a free massage from a rather nice your Italian lady in there health spa. This was worth the fee alone! ;-)
