Default Need Some Urgent Advice

Hi all,

2 months ago I crashed into the M4 crash barrier nothing serious and the barrier was not damaged.

Now I get a letter 2 months later asking for my insurance details etc.

I have already repaired my car as the damage was not major, so I did not bother to tell my insurance company.

Now i guess if highways agency or "Mott MacDonald" wants to claim against me, but for what????

Any advice people? please?

Charlie

If you had an accident they'll have had to inspect the crash barrier for *possible* damage. In theory, this may have needed to invovle lane closures etc. I reckon your insurers are in for a whoppingly large (inflated for insurance purposes) bill....

How do they know it is you?

How do they know after all this time the damage was caused by you?

Ask them why they want your details.

Play dumb until they show you some evidence that proves you did it. That's if you actually did do what they say

If the Highways Agency were involved then they would have passed on your details to the relevant department and that is why you have got the letter. I had an accident last year and hit a crash barrier and I also received a letter asking for my insurance details which I gave them because a claim was made.

The fact that you did not tell your insurance company at the time could come back and bite you because chances are they will try to avoid paying out.

Sod that! You don't have to tell the insurance if you have a bump unless you are claiming.

Tell them it wasn't you driving.

Play dumb, and demand proof. It could have been a white van man three weeks ago that did that damage

We pay more than enough for the upkeep of our roads, why the f**k should you pay for this (if you did damage it).

According to them, yes you do. Check your policy document.
