Default Need a rant, sorry

Having just dropped off my girlfriend at work, waiting to leave the business park, a white astra turns in and bumps my car. Lovely.

So I drove in after him and pulled up behind him to sort it out. He gets out, looks at me in a confused and blank way. So I say to him "You just hit my car" and point to the damage. He then replies "No I don't think I did". I should explain at this point, I'm a skinny little white boy and he was a middle aged pikey with 3 teeth, probably fresh out of the pub. So again say, "You just hit my car, when you turned in there" then show him the damage on both cars. There's white paint on my car and blue on his car. Long story short he gets angry and violent, squares up to me and pushes me over shouting "Don't f@#king accuse me of things I didn't do. That happened 3 months ago. If you accuse me again I'll deck you".

So I think it's just a car and leave.

Got the number plate but sadly no pictures of his car.

The damage it least isnt much, just on the bumper too thankfully. I'm just so f@#ked off that there are people like this and that I can do sod all against them.

At least I own an S and not a shitty bashed up astra I suppose

Did you call the police? Technically he assaulted you.

Is there any CCTV in the car park where you dropped your partner off?

Hope you get the matter sorted.

Report him to the Police for common assault and leaving the scene of an incident.

+1 for CCTV.

Report it to plod (difficult to prove without witnesses) & best of luck.

But I think you'll find the filthy did doesn't own a shitty white Astra either...

Police won't be interested in the assault, especially as it happened 3 months ago

CCTV footage would obviously help

I'd also bet that the other party had no insurance and the car wasn't registered to him so you're probably stuffed

Put it down to experience if the damage isn't significant

I think he meant that the offender claimed the damage was done 3 months ago

definitely report him to the police. Hopefully the damage isn't too great to the car and glad to hear that you wasn't seriously hurt. There are lots of idiots out there who should not be behind a wheel but alas there are, most of them with no licence or insurance.

Ah, gotcha

Changes things a little

Police usually won't get involved in common assaults (ie no injury)

Best outcome for the OP would be to get the other party's insurers details, whether via the police making enquiries or by involving his own insurers

If a claim is lodged with his own insurers though, and it doesn't go his way, it may affect his NCB

It's easy to look back on situations in hindsight but best advice would be to have called the police at the time of the incident
