Default Need New Discs & Pads - Front & Rear

Hi Folks,

Well the car went into the boys and girls at Honda for an MOT and service.

It failed the MOT due to a misty headlight, moisture in the lens ( Been suggest to replace head light lens) I think it may need re-sealing

The service went ok, but have been advise the discs are well worn and the fronts are badly corroaded, and they will not make it to the next service interval.

After having been given a quote for genuie Honda disc's and new pads front and rear, I almost died of shock.

So question is would anyone recommend using aftermarket Disc's and Pad's and if so, What would you recommend????

Thanks
Kiwi

I think people use Brakes international and I've not heard anyone complain of a drop off in braking performance.

Might be a silly question, but is there an easy way to check how much wear is left on the pads and discs?

Any rules of thumb people use?

I think that you need a micrometer to measure the discs - the replace measurement is in the Honda ESM IIRC.

Kiwi

I'd get a second opinion on the discs and pads front if I were you. It's not an uncommon practice for a dealer to "recommend" new parts when the exsisting ones are perfectly fine.

Pads are easy to check visually, discs hmmm Ive always subscribed to the theory, if the face of the disc has a lip get them replaced. Surface corrosion is normal, where the pad doesnt contact the disc.
