Worth a look re wheel noise.
I had to restrain my keyboard fingers a few times with Hyper Im a mechanical engineer but I profess to know fairly little about cars. Its not quite the same as applying theories. Im in the more I learn the more I realise I dont know, camp!

Just about to give the chap at the dealer the bad news and I'll see what he says.

Back from the dealer - after lots of pulling, prodding, putting up on ramps and running followed by a drive with two mechanics on board we're going to have a go at the bearing.
Bloody annoying because I'm not working at the moment and weather's lovely but I can't really drive it about too much the way it is. On the upside my dad's offered to lend me his scooby so I can get all nostalgic for a while

Let us know how you get on.
Mine is now undriveable and is going to Honda on wed. Pisses me off because I used to have access to all I needed to do a bearing change
Guess I just have to bend over and see what happens! I fear a new hub may be expensive hopefully its just the bearing and its not been chattering too much on the hub.

With big, sticky tyres & hooning into bends, I'm sure the bearings are under a helluva loading (esp. airfield days).
It's a matter of time, really. I'm sure the 'Lude's NSF is at 'pre-rumble' stage in really fast corners, too.

My scoob must have had stronger bearings then
You are right though, big power oversteers etc put a lot of stress on the back, which is very grippy.
