I ordered some tyres from them yesterday and received confirmation email etc, paying by credit card.

Get 2 emails today apparently from the same outfit saying they will not release until I transfer funds direct to their bank account.

Anyone used them recently and had problems paying by credit card?

No.

Had a problem with the twunt of a delivery driver not able to find a high street garage, or something.

Waiting for them to sort it all out...

Sounds a bit Phishy to me, Euan.

Event do winter tyres, if that's what your game is.

(EDIT) they probably don't do any type THAT far North though...

I just called up the number on the original email I got back for the order (which matches the one on their website), and apparently after they do the credit card validation they then do a separate address check and if they don't like that they won't take your card.

Bit bizarre in that I have never had any problems ordering anything before by credit card.

Seems they have just lost my business.

Blackcircles don't stock the tyres I want so I may just have to order them specifically from the usual fitter I use.

When I first ordered I had to fax some proof of my address that the credit card was registered against. It was strange but no problems since. However I did pay by credit card and there was no nonsense about sending funds direct.

Tried Camskill, but they don't have a complete set of the Goodyears I want.

Mytyres do, so next plan is to get my folks to order them online for me .

Phoned my usual fitter (who never has trouble getting SO2s, RE050s etc) and asked if he could order the ones I wanted through the usual channels and he said if they are winter tyres I am best to get them online myself and he will fit them. Seems he can't get hold of winter tyres easily as an independent tyre dealer/fitter as they come from Europe.

Bizarre situation - especially as when I phoned the Goodyear UK helpline to get advice on what was available in the right size they were pretty helpful.

No-one's really bought winter tyres in the yUK before; it's gone ballistic this year.

We'd been lulled into a sense of security by very mild winters. When the snow hit the fan last year, we suddenly realised that all-season tyres have become replaced by summer tyres.

It was funny to see all the people with no interest in driving and NFI what to do in the winter. especially the twunts who think 4WD has some sort of effect on their overweight CUV under such conditions...

One thing Mytyres announced just after I'd ordered mine; they'll supply a set of appropriate steel wheels with winter cheapos to your door! Just like they've done in EU for years! Well worth it.

Not used them before so can't comment, however I have used Etyres for the past two times and they are competitive, reliable and quick
