This is compared to my 03 and my mates 05, which he traded in for the 08. Both mine and his old 05 will hit the redline at about 93-94km in 2nd gear. The 08 will go up to 108km. In 3rd gear, it's nearer 150km vs 133-134 on the older models. It feels a bit slower but I don't think it is. On the contrary, I believe it should be faster at 0-60mph as it is achieving this in 2nd gear, so you won't have to change to 3rd, thus gaining a few tenths maybe? Handling wise, even though I didn't have the opportunity to push it in the twisties, it seems better than my 03. The suspension feels more or less the same. The wheels look better in real life IMO. Of course I like the 06-07 better than the 04-05 ones, so my opinion may not be the same as yours.
Personally, I would take the 08 any day over the 07. It's newer, brand new and it hasn't been abused by test drivers and honda staff.

By demo i meant in showroom. It's done 80 odd miles My last one was an ex road-demo tho, and it was faster than my previous non-demo one !

Yes I'm sure! My car is a 03, a year older than the first 2.2 engine in the US. It's also a RHD and to make things worse, a UK import In miles, it's about 57-58 in second and around 67 for the 08.

My 05 car gets 65 in 2nd! Which is bang on the figures stated in the owners manual!

Can you try the km reading and see where it hits the limiter? I'll change it to miles and see where it goes too.

Just back from my hols... I got a 57 plate MY07 with 4k on the clock. Black with aero kit. It came off the transporter friday morning, i looked at pics, bought it and it was serviced and valeted for me to pick it up at 5. Just in time to dump the HT at my friend's and leave for holiday at 8
