So did you suss if kids are ok in the car? As Steve says, Honda mention Honda specific child protection. Was that in there?

You should consider this for pursposes of a claim. Your insurance may get pissy if they find a loophole.

It never crossed my mind that a child should not go in the car. I am sure that Honda are simply covering there own backs by making recommendations. After all if I remember rightly they recommend changing car so you are in top by about 60mph.
Incidently He was in a proper booster seat and I would recommend that to anyone transporting a child.

Really awful to see those pics and hear of the story. I too am glad that both you and your son have walked away. I hope you get back on the road ASAP. I know it must feel really low at this time but in th elong run you have nothing to worry about in regards to the insurance. If you know it wasn't you then I expect you will not have any issues at all.

When I crashed my car the dealer gave me an estimate which was below the 60% but they also said that there was no gurantee that other things would not need changing and the chassis might need more work. Because of this my insurer wrote it off. Please keep us posted.

Justin, very sorry to read this and glad you walked away. This is reminiscent of my accident in March when an 'out of control' Transit hit me at 40-50mph and caused similar damage, yours does seem a lot worse Hope you get things sorted.

Not one for Chesh as it wasn't his fault!

Here is my similar damage:

The damage to mine was

The thing about the damage being worth more than 60% meaning the car is a write off is not entirely true. It is dependent on the insurance company and some will go up to 80%.

The chassis of my car was completely intact with no damage, which suprised me considering the side impact. But looking at those pics, its going to be very close to a write off and I would have thought there about
