Is there any way to loosen the roof fabric above the roof bar, there's sticky goop on there now which I need to clean off!

I applied 2 layers of tear aid (must be left 24 hours to dry), black insulation tape and finally stick back felt and my roof has been as strong as an Ox. you might want to combine all 3 like me :-)

I wonder if I'd get anywhere with presenting the TSB to Honda.

You must have done something wrong then as mine is holding well and I did mine a couple of days before you did yours. It also held for over 2 years on my old car...

The trick is to stick the little patch in the kit on the hole. Then cut the large strip in half and round the corners off so there isn't anywhere it will EASILY lift. That way you have a patch for each side of the car.

Then apply the large patch you have cut so that is meets with the seam just behind the roof bar, that way when the bar pulls across the patch it does so without any interference so it it won't lift it off. You have to stretch the roof up above the roof bar to get the patch under it, which should be just about do-able by unclipping the front catches to reduce the tension.

Need to get the residue off the roof bar before I try anything else.

I have noticed that the hole does seem to look bigger when it's been folded down, I'm not sure if the tear aid patch is stiff enough to prevent it stretching and getting bigger.

Also on removing the lizard skin fork protectors from the bars throught to cause the wear, I've noticed an indentation on the tear aid from the frame, so the lizard skins are still definitely required.

mine developed a nice hole as well recently, its only small but its annoying!

Mine has gone in the exact same place on both sides. Cut out two shaped pieces of acoustic carpet, liberal coating of spray tile adhesive and fitted the patches in place behind the splits.

Now there is something to protect and prevent the splits from worsening, it's fine and should be for the foreseeable. Had i known that there was sharp metal behind there, i'd have done something about it sooner.

Noticed this morning that my roof has the same wear on both sides. Does anyone have any spare roof material left for a patch? I'd obviously throw some £'s via paypal towards you..
I can't believe a 3 1/2 year old car roof can wear in so many areas

My roof was very hot on Saturday from the sun directly on it, I think this softened it and caused the roof bar to catch the edge.

Getting some sticky back felt now to stick over the tear aid and prevent additional wear.

Btw for anyone wondering, to get behind the bar to clean off the stickyness, I unclipped the roof then pushed the bar down towards the rear of the car, there was more than enough room then.
