Just point him to all the Reliability and reader surveys! Honda are waay above Merceded who are on a firm downward trend. Merc's were good & solid in the eighties but now quality isn't what it was.

In fact, among my mates, when one of our number got an SLK it was nicknamed the 'divorcee special'
